Hi, all! I wanted to send out a super-quick message about 3 things I
think many of you may want to know about...
1. New "Core Principles for Public Engagement" doc about to be
submitted to Obama open governance initiative
As many of you know, NCDD, IAP2 and the Co-Intelligence Institute have
been leading a dynamic, collaborative online process aimed at
developing a set of Core Principles for Public Engagement that most
people and organizations in this field can support. Numerous
practitioners and leading organizations have contributed to the
creation of the Core Principles, and we are excited about the result.
We are about to officially submit the Core Principles document to the
people working on Obama's open government directive, and we welcome
your endorsement - as an organization or an individual. We already
have dozens of endorsements from leading groups like the International
Association of Facilitators, the Institute of Cultural Affairs,
AmericaSpeaks, Everyday Democracy, Public Agenda, the League of Women
Voters, ACR's Environment and Public Policy Section and many more.
The field is really coming together around this, and we'd love to add
you as an endorser!
Learn more about the project, endorsers, our process, etc. at http://thataway.org/pep
or download the doc we're seeking endorsements for at http://www.thataway.org/files/Core_Principles_of_Public_Engagement.pdf
2. New YouTube video playlists on dialogue and deliberation
In response to a request posted on the NCDD discussion list, I just
created 6 public playlists linking to dozens of videos featuring
dialogue and deliberation events, methods and conferences (including
the last NCDD conference).
Those of you who attended the 2008 conference in Austin last October
may want to check out the amazing video Tim Thomas created for the
conference (the one from the closing session), numerous participant
interviews people conducted, and some conference footage that was
uploaded. www.youtube.com/profile?user=sheierbacher&view=playlists
