Indeed he did.
It's one thing to be told you are responsible. It is absolutely another
thing to accept personal responsibility.
We are not seeing it accepted at senior levels in the banking sector and
most other businesses whose leaders continue to pay themselves excessive
bonuses regardless of success.
We are not seeing it accepted in the two houses of government by senior
politicians not paying taxes or loading pet projects into much needed
legislation.
We are not seeing it from unions, health insurance companies and service
providers who cannot face the reality of unsustainable inflationary costs.
The President may set the tone (and a good tone it is) but there are many
individuals in this great nation that need to take a long, hard look at the
example they are setting and need to set.
To Michael's point. The politically expedient (politicians, celebrities,
CEO's etc) don't NEED to tell people to be responsible. They NEED to lead by
example and assist people to become more responsible. In doing so they would
instill and support in all of us a common future vision of a responsible and
free society.

Roger and everyone:? I think that is exactly what President Obama has done:
told us that we are all responsible for where we are in the economy.?? He
said so in his Inaugural Address,?in his state of the union and in other
public comments.

Roger;
Possibly, our understanding of the phrase "politically incorrect" is not the
same. Perhaps, I should have said: politically popular, or politically
expedient; as it seems that no politician will tell the electorate that they
must take responsibility for their actions and have a chance of getting
elected.
