The idea of holding opposites (be it in the one hand or the one land) has
lots of merit as it creates possibility - can lead to energy (creativity)
like positive and negative in electricity.
And I also like the idea of focus but I think that the context or framework
needs to be the whole system - and I mean the whole world - not just the
great USA.
For, in my mind, until we realise that it is a WE and that we are in the one
rowboat called, EARTH -- we will miss the point
It has often been said that, literally we have global impact no matter where
we are located but I wonder whether that is understood by many?
So my thought is that it would be generative to have an appreciative inquiry
where we focus on what a future world (the whole world) based on each
individual exercising and experiencing personal liberty and personal
responsibility, looks like?
Walt Whitman said 100 or so years ago that there are two words that we use a
lot but have yet to realise their meaning: democracy and nature.
An AI focussed on the above might bring some insights and actions that would
move us along the pathway to longer term improvements rather than "fixes"
that will inevitably have us repeat the boom recession/bust cycle that has
been the pattern so far.
Cheers

I think at the core of many of today's issues is the link between Liberty
and Responsibility. Whether it is bankers being irresponsible with investors
money or individuals believing that the government has a right to provide
for them. I'm not sure where I read it but I once saw a quote that when the
Statue of Liberty was erected on the east coast the opportunity was missed
to place the Statue of Responsibility on the west coast.
Does it help to narrow the focus on what a future based on personal liberty
and personal responsibility looks like?
Roger
