cc: AI Listserve - Sandy has the key to linking
Obama's message with that of the forthcoming
International AI Conference in Nepal in
November.... Who else can help further the link?
Mac
--------------------------------
Dear Sandy,
You're right on the mark here. Very exciting...
and timely, of course. Obama is very much AI.
(See excerpt from Sandy's AI Listserve message
below
Now, if you've followed the planning and
invitations for the 2009 World Appreciative
Inquiry Conference in Nepal in November.... see
my announcement below (scroll down below your
excerpt). I also sent this the other day via AI
listserve, you may have noticed that the title of
the conference is "Creating a Positive Revolution
for Sustainable Change" and that the website
specifically talks about a commitment to "Yes We
Can!" as an organizing principle.
And on another front, a colleague in Africa just
wrote me Obama speech in Ghana was all AI... From
Sudan to Tanzania I witnessed Obama's message
being merged with the Appreciative Planning and
Action training programs I was running in village
after village... and the Obama 'T' shirts also
kept appearing among those who were attending our
trainings... amazing.
So, obviously we should have Obama open the AI
conference in Nepal...!! And the theme of public
engagement appears in workshop after workshop
that are already on the program.
Do you have any connections that might help us
get Barack's ear? Or Michelle's? Or Marshall
Ganz's
How could we get the conference agenda and
mission in front of him or one of his top aides??
As a member of the conference organizing team,
and coordinator for the Conference's
International Advisory Board, I've promised to
try to get Obama's ear.
Can you help?
Or are there others in your network, or the AI
listserve network, who worked with the campaign
that may have some access that might help?
How awesome would it be if an Obama opened the event...!!??
Let's go for it!

The programs you've heard about from me over the
years are now reaching almost 200,000 women, who,
in turn, are changing the world for their
families and communities.... And you can include
a visit to meet some of these women -- and what
they are now doing to support Habitat for
Humanity initiatives in their villages as part of
your conference plan.. Don't miss these two great
opportunities!

>NEW FRAMEWORK ON GOALS AND IMPACTS OF DIALOGUE & DELIBERATION
>
>Public Agenda just released four great new
>publications, downloadable free from
>www.publicagenda.org/cape. I was particularly
>struck by the publication by (NCDD
>member) Martin Carcasson: Beginning with the
>End in Mind: A Call for Goal-Driven
>Deliberative Practice, which offers a practical
>framework to help practitioners
>systematically consider both their short-term
>and long-term goals and the strategies that
>will set them up for success.
>
>I was inspired by Martin's work to create a
>graphic that expands on the "Goals of
>Deliberation" figure in his paper slightly (with
>his blessing and involvement) to include
>dialogue work that focuses on relationship
>building and conflict resolution. View it at
>www.thataway.org/main/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/ddgoals_graphic_full.jpg
>if you're
>interested. I also just added a post to the

>I think the goals framework has the potential to
