Dear AI Listservers:

I’m pleased to announce the formation of the next "Path of Appreciation and Positivity" group, to begin in September. The "Path" is a small, six-month tele-group designed to explore the power of living and working from appreciation, positivity, and possibility.  Think of it as (a) AI and Positive Psychology Get Personal, (b) a workshop venue for busy people who haven’t the time, inclination, or carfare to attend an onsite workshop, and (c) an intimate exploration (self, other, and group) via Distance Learning. If this piques your interest, please read on.

This will be the fourth such group; the three prior ones have been wonderful learning and connecting experiences for all concerned (myself included). I created the Path of Appreciation group model in response to requests from attendees of my presentations and webinars, as well as consulting clients, for a venue to more deeply explore the power of appreciation and positivity.  I hope the following description is sufficiently vivid to entice you to join us.

The group meets by telephone (90-min calls, once monthly) for six months, beginning in September. It’s designed to facilitate deep (or better said, elevated) personal and group exploration of the appreciative life. It has a maximum of eight members, to create a safe and vibrant container for this type of exploration. Each session has an AI theme including, but not limited to: perceiving the positive core of oneself and others; daring to envision and pursue one’s highest/most appreciative life and work; “appreciatizing” your conversations and relationships (including the one you have with yourself);bringing appreciation and positivity to your transition and transformation experiences; (literally) watching your language and minding your questions; and a capstone session on harvesting Path experience’s gems.

Between sessions, group members interview each other on an appreciative topic. These conversations off-line have been deeply meaningful and insightful experiences. While I always have didactic material ready, group discussion of the off-line 1:1s is so fertile that it often occupies much of the conference call time and leads to profound insights; it’s more alive and pulsing than any didactic material could possibly be: the Simultaneity Principle in action! Each Path group is a very much co-created, and new interests and topics emerge for exploration in each group. I fully anticipate the same will be true of this fourth one.

Additionally, I will offer a 'menu' of positive psychology practices, and invite group members to adopt one practice each month, for the month (it will likely be dealer's choice, in that you get to choose which practice seems to call to you that month.) Should be fun and instructive.

One of the concrete take-aways from the experience is a set of great appreciative exercises that members will have field-tested themselves, which they are free to use with clients, family, and friends. Additionally, each group member is offered a free half-hour 1:1 hour coaching call following the completion of the six months, to explore the post-group experience on (or off) the appreciative path.

The cost of the group will be $100 per person, per session (an introductory rate for the AI community.) Members are asked to make a financial commitment for the six sessions, all of which are recorded and available to them. (Members are invoiced monthly.) While I am structuring the group initially as a six-month journey, there is certainly the possibility that it could become an extended or ongoing group.

Please contact me with questions, suggestions, and/or registration. I’d be happy to speak with you by phone to discuss the group, and the prospect of your being an integral part of it. And feel free to pass along the information to interested others.

Appreciatively,
Ed
