In response to:
My name is Ram Chandra Lamichhane, I am the Executive Members of Imagine
Nepal. It is a networking organization of AI practitioner's in Nepal. I have
been using AI for last 10 years for Education, community Development and
Management. Now I have been appointed in the course revision team of M.Sc.
Forestry by Kathmandu Forestry College. I recommend the AI in Natural
Resource Management and Community Based Forest Management. Now I am looking
for the Masters level course content of AI for Natural resource management
and community based forest management. Can you please recommend me the
course content of AI, which will be highly suitable for M.Sc. Level in NRM
and CBFM

Dear Ram Chandra,
I am thrilled that you are seeking to include AI in the curriculum for the
Masters of Science Program at Kathmandu Forestry College. I find it very
important at this time in history to use the best tools available to make a
real difference. In particular, I would like to share with you some recent
work. I had the good fortune to receive a fellowship to pursue the
application of AI in natural resource management. The setting was a
national park in the U.S. The summary results have been presented in the
2005 AI Practitioner.

I also prepared a slide presentation regarding this effort. The powerpoint
elaborates upon the specifics of the methodology employed and qualitative
data analysis. You may find it useful for your students. Please let me
know if you would like a copy.
In addition, my partner and I would be happy to assist in your efforts in
integrating AI into the Forestry program. My background is in natural
resource management and environmental conflict resolution with a particular
focus on conservation and development. My AI instructor, Marleny Munoz, and
I are now partnering in a consulting practice using AI in natural resource
management. We are also starting a non profit to educate on the use of
participatory action research (with an AI foundation) in peacebuilding,
regional planning and ecotourism development. Marleny may have some
excellent suggestions regarding curriculum development. Her focus is
primarily in social work which is highly complementary to natural resource
management in most settings.
Best of luck and let us know.
Kind regards,
Myriem
