Dear AI Listservers:

I’m looking forward to launching The Path of Appreciation tele-group in March. There are several spaces left, so please let me know if you are interested. Also, please also feel free to pass along this invitation to others. What follows is the original announcement.

Thanks.

Ed Jacobson

I’m pleased and excited to announce the formation of a small, six-month tele-group to explore the power of living and working from appreciation and possibility.  Think of it as (a) AI (and Positive Psychology) Gets Personal, as (b) a workshop for busy people who haven’t the time, inclination, or carfare to attend an onsite workshop, and as (c) an intimate exploration via Distance Learning.

I created the Path of Appreciation group model in response to requests from attendees of my presentations and webinars, as well as consulting clients, for a venue to more deeply explore the power of appreciation. I have refined the model over several pilot iterations (both very successful) and believe it is now “Ready for Prime Time.” I hope the following description is sufficiently vivid to entice you to join us on “The Path of Appreciation©.

The group will meet by telephone (90-min calls, once monthly) for six months, beginning in March. It’s designed to facilitate deep (or better said, elevated) personal and group exploration of the appreciative life.

The group will have a maximum group size of eight members. (This size group allows me to create a safe and vibrant container for this type of exploration.) Each session has an AI theme including, but not limited to: perceiving the positive core of oneself and others; daring to envision and pursue one’s highest/most appreciative dream; “appreciatizing” your conversations and relationships (including the one you have with yourself); (literally) watching your language and minding your questions; and a capstone session on carrying the group experience’s gems forward.

Between sessions, group members interview each other on an appreciative topic. These conversations offline have been deeply meaningful and insightful experiences. While I always have didactic material ready, group discussion of the off-line 1:1s is so fertile that it often occupies much of the conference call time and leads to profound insights; it’s more alive and pulsing than any didactic material could possibly be: the Simultaneity Principle in action!

One of the concrete take-aways from the experience is a set of great appreciative exercises that members will have field tested themselves, which they are free to use with clients, family, and friends. Additionally, each group member is offered a free half-hour 1:1 hour coaching call following the completion of the six months, to explore the post-group experience on (or off) the appreciative path.

The cost of the group will be $99 per person, per session (an introductory rate for the AI community, a 33 percent discount from the usual cost.) Members are asked to make a financial commitment for the six sessions, all of which are recorded and available to them. (Members are invoiced monthly.) While I am structuring the group initially as a six-month journey, there is certainly the possibility that it could become an extended or ongoing group. (The first groups are discussing when we’ll meet in person in 2009. Perhaps we will have a multi-group experience.)

Thank you for considering this invitation. I don’t think I can adequately convey, in an announcement, how vibrant and meaningful these groups have been – for the members as well as for me; as with all the work of the heart that we AI listserve members do, these groups make me better, as a person and as an instrument of service!

Please contact me with questions, suggestions, and/or registration. I’d be happy to speak with you by phone to discuss the group, and the prospect of your being an integral part of it. And feel free to pass along the information to interested others.

Appreciatively,
Ed
