Our friend and colleague, Paula Comunelli, has done amazing work in this
area - a county-wide summit involving the state, county, and local mental
health organizations, law enforcement agencies (5 of them) and those
receiving services from the agencies. She also has a process of supporting
those with challenges in writing their story and making public their story.
It is amazing work, and Paula is an amazing person as well. Jane and I have
supported her and her work for a good number of years - in the summit and in
providing foundation workshops for those receiving and working in this area
in California. Paula was in a workshop in 1998 and understands and lives the
appreciative way. Let me know if there is more information I might provide.
So, the "germ" of an idea has bloomed in Paula's work. I suspect she can
provide more information if you contact her.

Dear All

I was wondering if you know of any appreciative work in the area of mental
health?

I could imagine appreciative interviews of the most mentally healthy people
you could find would be very illuminating. It would be interesting to try
and define mental health too. Positive psychology is a counterweight to the
current deficit thinking on mental illness, but I think this might go
further

At the moment this is just the germ of an idea, so any thoughts,
connections, resources or ideas would be very welcome. If you wanted to do
something, how might you go about it?
