Hi Sharyn

I hope you are getting some responses. I enjoyed your comment about
intimidation - it is so often a factor and I admire your mentioning it. (I
was at a meeting on Wednesday where I wish I had had the courage)

Anyway - I hope you are getting some response "backchannel" - I haven't seen
any on the listserve.

Of course I have some thoughts on the matter - and only hold back because I
don't want to confuse the issue. (My ideas on a lot of these matters are
sometimes a little unique - and I have only a little formal education about
AI)

In part I guess I think AI is all about construction - and finding ways
that help individuals and groups can construct highly desirable realities.
The poetic principle is the one that I think I least understand in
"conventional AI terms" - but my guess is that it serves growth by saying we
can study anything, and the studying is often enhanced by making use of
metaphoric expression. Example --- AI can be viewed as a new way of
"rubbing sticks together", of increasing the number of choices at the buffet
table --hmmm what else can AI be viewed as - metaphorically speaking -
(poetically speaking) - - that's a real question - I would be love to hear
other people's ideas.

Mike

Mike's observation leads me to ask the question I've been too intimidated
to ask before. What is the difference between these two principles since
they both seem to focus on our interpretation of "reality?"
