I've been a mentor for a student in the Defense Acquisition University (DAU)
Master program for about six months. Haven't used any books, etc. Just meet
with the student, review their progress in the program and chat about what
they're doing, what they wish to accomplish, their goals, how they're going
to accomplish their goals, etc. From my limited experience, the mentored
really just wants/needs someone they can talk with openly and honestly about
what they are doing and get honest feedback and guidance.

Subject: [Ailist] Appreciative Mentoring

Hi,
I've been fortunate enough to be asked to be a formal mentor to a
young and aspiring HR professional & was wondering if anyone on the
list has undertaken this role & if so whether they have any materials
they can either share with me or point me to.
If this is the 2nd time you've seen this message my apologies, I've
had some issues with remembering my logon for the Ailist!
Gratefully,
Gervais Goodman, Alberta, Canada
