I love to remind people of Coop's 3 human universal needs: to have a 
voice and be heard, to be seen as essential to the group, and to be seen 
as unique and exceptional. Beyond sociopaths, it seems that the heart of 
bullying is that a need is not being met for that bully. These are 
deceptively simple...think about people you have 'issues' with and 
again, one or more of your needs or theirs are probably not being met.
Coop articulated these in this form, other scholars have also come up 
with them by other names so I feel comfortable 'counting' on them and 
teaching them as a template for good relational management.
