[Ailist] Another take on Myers-Briggs

Dear Stephanie,

The article you site describing the flaws of the Myers Briggs Type
Indicator supposes that indicators or other sorting mechanisms
provide answers.

I think indicators raise questions and to use them in any other way
diminishes diversity of preferences and abilities in ourselves and
others.

Several years ago I tried an experiment- I used masking tape to set
out four unlabeled quadrants on the floor.

Then I asked about 15 people to sort themselves out. They did so.
Each person had reasons as to why they chose one of the four "boxes"

We all want to make meaning but the caution comes in making to much or
too ridged an interpretation.

Those of us who are passionate about inclusion are repelled by
stereotyping in any guise.

Perhaps a "box" is just a place to stand and contemplate the multiple
communities that make up our world.
