I did my follow up session with this project I was working on.
Before we began there was an update on the project.
Specifically, as a result of the financial crisis all project were put on
hold.
We went thru the exercise anyway, some developmental disabilities consumers
got their apartment while others were put on hold.
What was interesting about the process was it providing the group with an
opportunity to share how important the project was. How the consumers
appreciated my organization's honesty on the current status of the project. More
importantly, it was the consumers that encouraged the group not to lose hope and
that we would work together to make this project real for everyone.
In the end, when they asked about there wishes since the project was started
six months ago was not to give up hope and to work to find away to make it
real.
It may not have solved all the problems but the process provided an
opportunity to remind everyone in the group saw the value of the project, appreciated
the honesty but more importantly that we are one family that is dedicated to
helping the consumers to achieve their goal.
Very invigorating experience.
