[Ailist] vision statements

Kathy
I have done precisely this on a number of occasions. I use the traditional
approach of inquiry interviews on the peak experiences of working with the
organisation, collect the key factors in small groups or main group
(depending on group size) and prioritising these into the top half dozen.
Then get small groups or trios to craft a picture of the dream based on
these key factors, with a headline to their picture. From these headlines,
the pictures and the key factors, it is then a relatively simple
word-smithing activity to craft a vision statement. Depending again on group
size, I do this as the whole group with me taking the role of charter/writer
or get trios to craft their own draft statements and then merge them. I
also find that the two hour session finishes with an almost ready statement,
which generally improves and is enhanced by incubation over a period of a
couple of days.
Good luck
