National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation

Hi, everyone!
I wanted to bring a couple of things to your attention this month in
addition to listing the training discounts and some of the blog
headlines....
1. Sign the November 5th Coalition's Declaration
NCDD is a member of the November 5th Coalition - a new all-partisan
effort to put people back into politics, and we encourage all of you
to take a minute to sign the Coalition's Declaration at
www.novemberfifth.org/manifesto.html to challenge candidates to rise
above needless polarization and talk about how they’ll work with all
of us, as fellow citizens, to address difficult problems from health
care to education reform, from climate change to keeping communities
safe.
Other members of the November 5th Coalition include the National
Civic League, American Association of State Colleges and
Universities’ American Democracy Project, Mobilize.org, and the
Association of Young Americans. More details are online at
www.thataway.org/?p=1199
2. Stay updated on the 2008 NCDD Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation
NCDD 2008 is shaping up to be an even more innovative and productive
event than our first three biennial conferences, and I hope you can
join us! The conference will take place in Austin, Texas, this
October 3rd through 5th.
This year's conference planning process is more open and transparent
than ever, and I invite you to keep tabs on what we're thinking about
and the decisions we're making by visiting our conference blog
(www.thataway.org/events/?page_id=5) regularly. You can also receive
blog posts about the conference in your email inbox (no more than 1/
day; most likely only several/week) by signing up at
www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=1387827
Visit the "Feedback Wanted" category at www.thataway.org/events/?
cat=19 now to share innovative networking activities with us, to help
us think about what new methods we can feature at the conference, or
to help us identify more conservatives who support dialogue and
deliberation. We'd love you input! And feel free to email me and ask
to be added to the conference updates email list if you'd prefer to
just receive periodic announcements about the event.
3. Discounts on Top-Notch Trainings for Paid NCDD Members
NCDD members who pay the full membership fee (only $50 for
individuals or $100 for orgs!) can take advantage of discounted rates
for the following trainings offered by our partners. Go to
www.thataway.org/discounts for more details on the trainings

As always, email me at sandy at thataway.org with announcements for the
blog or to inquire about partnership opportunities. Thataway.org now
receives an average of 3,000 visitors a day (page views are many
times that), so it's worth it to make sure your news is up on the
blog and your resources are in the Learning Exchange.
Good luck with all you are doing!
Best,

The "dialogue and deliberation community" is a rapidly growing
community of practice dedicated to solving group and societal
problems through honest talk, quality thinking and collaborative
action. NCDD provides the infrastructure needed in this community so
we can work together to increase both our individual and our
collective impact.
