Hi Mary Sue,
We seem to have a synergistic moment. I just finished two great days with
Jen Silbert and Dawn Dole and Diana Whitney, in spirit, working on our
"Encyclopedia of Positive Questions for Bringing Out the Best in Families"
due out late Summer. And the last protocol of the day was on the topic
"Celebrating Life". It is a first draft, and we would love to know how it
went, if you use any of the questions. In fact, if you do end up using any
AI questions at your family gathering, please pass them on.
Have a wonderful celebration.

Subject: [Ailist] Conversations for a 90th Birthday

Hey, all -- My mom is celebrating her 90th birthday on March 1. I am
thinking of putting questions in a hat and having people draw them out and
answer them on the spot. We will have ages 1 to 90+ there, so there is an
extremely wide range of attention span, skill and inclination. Too
sentimental and several of her siblings will just bow out or get totally,
raucously funny. Which I guess isn't all bad!!

Mostly the celebrating is a gathering of sibs, children, grandchildren,
great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Maybe 50 or 60 of us. I am also bringing a bagpiper in to play. She's always
wanted a bagpiper at her funeral and I thought I would surprise her with one
while she can sit up and enjoy it!

Any suggestions for questions or activities?

Oh, we are also assembling a scrapbook of cards and best wishes plus
memories and mementos from all the above army plus her friends who can't
attend.

Re-reading this before sending it, I'm thinking maybe I should put the
questions on pages that will go into the scrapbook and people who want to
can respond and the other guys won't be put on the spot. That way my mom can
read over those questions and answers when she wants.

I welcome your ideas!
