[Ailist] transformative schools celebration in Londons city hall

I have been a member of this group for sometime and have found it very stimulating and educational. I work in East London with primary and secondary schools on projects focusing on active global citizenship, children's rights and participation. I thought the group might be interested in what we are doing on Monday at Parliament and at London's City Hall. We are celebrating the oldest democratic school in the world, A.S.Neill's Summerhill and St Georges-in-the-East, a state school from 1945-55 that was world famous for its innovative work with democracy, co-operation and participation.

It is good to remember and use the extreme, and successful models of the past, that still raise fundamental questions about learning, childhood, justice and communities. What if a school... could be...
