Dawn,
I am from the University of New Mexico and there is a cadre of people who might be interested in the virtual session. Any chance of adding Albuquerque, New Mexico to the list?
Dr. Carol Richmond

Opportunity to Facilitate a Complex Global Social Responsibility
Summit with David Cooperrider
Dear Colleagues in the AI Community,
Throughout the world there is a bubbling up of interest in advancing a
new magnitude of social responsibility and sustainable development.
There is recognition that we have the capacity, strengths and
solutions to eliminate extreme poverty in the world within a
generation; likewise we have the capacity to set in motion important
transitions to a totally renewable energy society. The key, it seems,
is now to work beyond the individual corporation or non-profit, and to
work with whole industries and professions.
This is exactly what ASAE & the Center for Association Leadership is doing
- they have combined their talents to bring together leaders from
associations from every profession and industry. They are the
"association of associations" - ultimately touching almost 300 million
people through their combined memberships. And they want to do an
Appreciative Inquiry Summit April 30 - May 2, 2008. The effort will
have a 500 person face-to-face AI Summit in Washington DC; and it will
have one day summits (April 30th) at dozens of connected locations at
cities around the world. In addition, the Summit design will incorporate
active participation from virtual attendees from every continent.
ASAE has asked me if I could invite volunteers in the AI community to
facilitate the smaller one-day AI Summits and help facilitate some of the
online activities. The date for the one-day Summits is April 30th; the
online activities will extend through May 2. This truly is an exciting
opportunity for many reasons: it might well
become the largest social responsibility summit ever held; the impact
will be enormous, setting in motion dozens of large scale projects for
global change; and it is breaking new ground with the AI Summit method
with the connected locations and virtual participation using the collaborative
software capabilities developed by iCohere.
For people who want to participate, it will likely be a great learning
opportunity.
During the Global Summit on Social Responsibility - Leveraging the
Power of Associations for a New Magnitude of Leadership, we will
define how associations can harness their power and influence to
create a worldwide social responsibility movement, speed the spread of
solutions and ultimately help build a better world. Global Summit
participants will collaboratively craft the principles, guidelines and
actions that will transform this initiative from conversation to
action. The website for the event is at http://www.asaecenter.org/
Here is the list of sites/cities where we are looking for volunteers:
Chicago, IL; Marlborough, CT; Tallahassee, FL; Atlanta, GA; Duluth GA;
St. Paul, MN; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Milwaukee, WI; and Seattle,
WA. Conversations are under way regarding other locations in Phoenix,
AZ, Sacramento, CA, Cleveland, OH, New Orleans, LA and New York, NY.
Anticipated international connected sites are being discussed with
possible connected sites being located in Sydney, Melbourne and
Canberra, Australia; Brussels, Belgium; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil;
Shanghai, China; Bogota, Columbia; London, England; Paris, France;
Jakarta, Indonesia; Dublin, Ireland; Manila, Philippines; Singapore,
Singapore; Barcelona, Spain; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Commitments for additional connected sites are expected and will be
announced as they are confirmed.
Please let Pascal Kaplan - he is working with me in designing the
Virtual and Connected Sites processes for this Summit - know if you
wish to help facilitate at one of the connected sites or in the iCohere
virtual environment. His phone number is 925-256-4343 ext 101 and
his email is pascal at iCohere.com. Simply send him an email and a note
on which city you might be interested in and/or whether you would like
to help with the virtual component of the Summit. And if possible, please send
him a paragraph bio on yourself and your work.
Pascal and I will be providing some training in advance of the Summit for
those who are able to join us in this exciting adventure that will bring
the AI Summit process to a new level of global engagement.
Let me thank you in advance for your interest in this unique AI
Summit. And don't hesitate to contact me or cc me at
