An ongoing discussion group is a great idea and its sustainment will depend on the way it is organized and run, obviously. I have been in a few voluntary OD discussion groups that began with much enthusiasm and I learned that the biggest problem has usually been to sustain the energy and dialogue. The group begins with enthusiasm and energy with a lot of sharing of good ideas. After a while the organization begins to depend on the drive of a few key organizers who, in time, begin to feel their energy diffused and their efforts wasted. Then the energy of the group just peters out usually because the core of sustainers ran out of energy. I would really like to find an effective way to organize and sustain a synergistic group. I am sure there are effective ways. Come to think of it - the Ailist is an excellent example of ongoing discussion groups! Is self-organizing the secret that Meg Wheatley mentions? We can discuss this in the Ailist but I would like to expand the arena to a face to face dialogue where we could discuss, share experiences, and develop workable solutions face to face during the next AI Colloquy that will take place in Bethel Maine (not far from Connecticut and Massachusetts!) in July 2009. There we could share and develop ideas with people from all over the country - and the world! A real possibility for synergy! Please let me know as this firms up. I am located in central Massachusetts, so Hartford can work well. Great idea. Same as Mark-please feel free to contact me offline to organize..after the holidays preferrable for sanity and scheduling. > Happy Holidays, Joan> > > ---- Mark Berns <mberns at mindspring.com> wrote: > > Alice,> > > > I'm down in Norwalk but would be happy to connect with you on AI.
