[Ailist] short introduction to AI material/ suggestions

Lisa,

Perhaps you might think of introducing AI without the 4Ds and instead
introduce it from the context of the Strengths Movement, Positive
Image-->Positive Action and the notion that what we study expands, what we
inquire about grows.

This approach would allow you to introduce the Principles of AI instead of
the 4Ds. You could demonstrate the concept by asking them for "problems" or
issues that they are facing or dealing with along with how they normally go
about resolving them; then invite them to reframe these to express what it
is that they want "more of". Or have them tell you what changes they would
like to see in their organization and then allow them to see the differences
between those concepts that invite movement towards vs. movement away from.
Invite them to reframe the "away from" to what is desired.

Follow with, AI is about structured inquiry into what they want more of and
then designing the org. to deliver that (4Ds).

Wow .. what a challenge ... I'll be interested in reading other's

thoughts and perspectives. As a trainer I know potentially how tough

the crowd could be .... but you could decide to shorten the 4 D's

into 5 minutes each [as best as you can] and then 20 minutes for

debriefing the experience where you ask questions like:

* What was different in this approach than other approaches you are used to?

* What was challenging?

* What type of outcomes do you expect to get in using a process like

this with groups?

* What advantages are there to using AI in terms of participant's
engagement?

* What advantages are there to using AI in terms of group's future success.

Not sure if the helps .. but I would be prone in your situation to

provide some time of experience for 20 minutes and then debrief it

out for about 20 minutes in which application links are made.

Good luck!
