[Ailist] AI questions from a novice student

Hi -

I am a doctoral student who was introduced to AI about a year ago; I
have since decided to use AI for an applied clinical project. Most of
the publications are clear and consistent in saying that there is no
"right" way to do AI. That being said, it becomes quite daunting for a
doctoral student to "justify" his/her research process when being
critiqued by scholars who favor strict distinctions in quant/qual
methodologies. Some of my questions are:

Can AI be done using one-on-one interviews, or does it always involve
a focus group?

How are the themes from the interviews determined? Is it inappropriate
to combine AI w/thematic analysis?

If there are a list of inquiries developed via literature review and
consultations w/professionals, does each inquiry go through the 4D
cycle, or is that the description of the research process?
