Hi Christine,
About a year ago I worked with a private school in Montreal and used AI as the framework for strategic planning of a $22 million advancement/capital campaign. I would be happy to share any of the details with you if you would like to chat. The planning involved some from the Board of Directors, some staffers, and a mix of others. The AI approach was supportive of continuously uncovering the essence of what was important to all parties involved - including alumni and key donors.
One of the conflicting issues in a campaign like this which is substantial for a private school with 700 students is priorities - money for endowments vs money for new building(s) - by being grounded and continuously revisiting the essence of the experiences each person had, it was easier (not easy, but easier) to establish capital funding priorities. By understanding these priorites, the "ask" evolved more fluidly, and the key donors were more readily connected to those priorities. (In situations like these it is common that key donors, people who are able to donate the biggest gifts, often have their own ideas about where they want the money to go, even if the school says X - for example, endowments were a big priority, and one donor wanted to put their money into a new hockey rink because they had played hockey at the school...you get the drift).
Anyway, drop me a line if you would like to chat more.

Hi All, While reading a client's Capital Campaign Briefing Paper, I became excited about the obvious fit of AI for several of the outcomes of a good campaign, especially the non-monetary ones - more and deeper relationships with the external community resulting in membership growth and new collaborative partners and a heightened community profile. Do any of you have examples of using AI for Capital Campaigns? Thanks in advance for anything you can share.
