Hello all, this is my first posting. I will be certified by the COrporation for Positive CHange this November after I attend the Summit workshop.
I have been consulting with several organizations, one of them the Department of Education for the State of Utah. While we are not in direct contact with students, we have been considering developing a one-day workshop entitled "Appreciative Families".
I am interested in hearing more about how you plan to work with these young people. I am also developing this program as part of a non=profit mentoring program for at-risk youth. In this case, the family would be the youth, his or her mentor, any other adults (extended family, house parent at a half-way house, teachers, etc). Most of our youth have at least one parent in prison. I would like to include this parent as well as the other parent. In many of our cases, one parent is in jail and the other is on drugs.
I plan to use a very simply process for this group. I will begin with the one-on-one discovery phase and move to the dream phase the first day.
I, too, welcome thoughts and ideas.
Thank you
Rebecca Heckman
