Subject: Re: [Ailist] VIA and Gallup Strengths
To follow up on what John said, I¹ve done both the Gallup and VIA
assessments, and found them both very useful tools for identifying,
appreciating, and applying my strengths and values in daily life.
My on-line newsletter, which had become on the major pillars of my marketing
and promo strategy emerged from thinking about how to integrate my ³love of
learning,² ³intellection,² and ³collecting² value/strengths.
At first, I was kind of put off because these didn¹t seem like very macho
things (courage, leadership, bravery were more what I was looking for ;-))
but the more I thought about them and thought about all the books, notes,
quotes, and anecdotes I¹d collected over the decades, I realized that I
could combine all of my key strength values in a newsletter project. That
was 5 years ago, and I¹m still going strong.
So, as John suggested, I like to use multiple ways of looking at myself. I
try to see them each as a unique lens, and see myself through that lens,
knowing that it is only one perspective on the whole me.
Cheers!
Bruce
