Dear Denise: Thanks so much for the article from Kenya! I consider Kenya a
second home though it has been far too long since I was last there! Back in
the days of the Global Excellence in Management (GEM) program that Ada Jo
Mann put together (where we created many of the recognizable AI processes in
use today) and housed GEM at Case, AI was taught to the World Vision group
and the Kenya office uses it still, I think.
Ralph and I did a couple of AI summits there with the Catholic Relief
Services twice and with the International Institution of Rural
Reconstruction (IIRR) Africa office. We also went with IIRR into Ethiopia
and later Ada Jo lived in Ethiopia and did lots of AI work there. David and
I did some work in Uganda in 1994 and I believe that it is also around in
Tanzania, so East Africa is a potential hotbed of AI enthusiasm! It is a
process very aligned with the relational cultures of Africa where people
tend to be pleasant and helpful.... like if you ask someone on the street of
Nairobi where to find the Hilton, they interrupt what they were doing and
walk you over!
So, thanks for the article. You made my day! Hope you are well and busy.
Appreciatively, Jane
