Good Morning Terry:

In the Appreciative Inquiry Handbook - this theory is highlighted in Chapter
7 based on Frank Barrett's work. There is also a classic article in the
Handbook (check AI commons as well - written by Cooperrider/Srivastva that
does a nice job bringing the generative theory in Action-Research.

Generative Competence: the organization constructs integrative systems that
allow stakeholders to see the results of their actions, to recognize that
they are making a meaninful contribution and to experience a sense of
progress.

Generative Learning: the type of organizational learning that emphasizes
continuous experimentation, systematic thinking and a willingness to think
outside and creatively the limits of an issue.
