Hello AI list serve folks -
I am on an Organizational Development and Learning team at a New England
community Hospital and am working closely with a manufacturing company's
Performance Improvement team to adapt their training methods and
evidence-based strategies for improvement to foster our work in realizing
our dream
of "Creating the Best Patient Experience in the World, Right Here at Home"
(Summit Purpose Statement from system-wide summit in September). The
potential power of combining the AI Approach and practical processes to
realize improved outcomes is immense. I too want to know who else is
involved in doing this and am also working in doing this in a rapidly
evolving organization.
I was at a new Hire training yesterday and saw a fantastic DVD clip titled
the "the Kazan of Making Toast". Kazan a Japanese word for "taking
something apart and putting it back together in a way that works better".
Kazan is a cornerstone for LEAN thinking and training. The film clip
provided terrific Appreciative learning opportunity for these new hires to
understand how to build a culture where waste is minimized by opening one's
eyes to seeing the barriers and working as a team to improve outcomes and
move processes forward. I am designing a training using this clip and
adapting the training to our departmental leaders and their team leaders.
I hope this is helpful,
Kate

I don't have any articles to site...
We use the LEAN process here at the hospital. Since the point of LEAN is to
eliminate waste in any process, I think the AI approach can fit very well.
The dreaming stage - "when does it work best", "What would be ideal" "what
would success look like" and them move towards removing the barriers (waste)
that get in the way of the dream/goal.

Subject: [Ailist] Lean Problem Solving and Appreciative Inquiry
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any examples, articles, or case studies using
Appreciative Inquiry in conjunction with Lean (developed by Toyota)
Process Improvement?
I know this may sound like a contradiction; but I am trying to use
Appreciative Inquiry in the Lean Problem Solving Model. I am a student
in the MSOD program at Pepperdine University and hope to develop a
thesis around this topic.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
