[Ailist] AI approach to competency development

Hi Colleen,
One tried and true way of defining competencies is through "critical
incident interviews" that, in general, involve pre-selected "expert"
(nurses) telling very concrete stories about times when they felt very
successful (and also very unsuccessful) in their work. The stories are
"coded" for thematic examples of competency.
It seems that this has a definite overlap with AI.

Subject: [Ailist] AI approach to competency development
Dear List Serve Members,
I work within a large health region in Canada. My current role is within
the mental health services. We are beginning a process to develop/describe
nursing competencies, which are aligned with nursing standards and can be
used to assist in clearly communicating performance expectations for nurses
working on psychiatric units in our hospitals.
Has anyone used an AI approach in competency development? I would
appreciate any advice / learnings you gained.
Regards,
Colleen

Colleen,
I presented a workshop on AI at a Nursing Summit last year. One of the other
workshops presented was the Caring Nurse model. It was a very rich Summit
with lots of discussion and input. I am happy to talk with you more about
it, please email me directly if you would like to discuss it.
Kindest Regards,
Rainey
