Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessments are powerfully simple, elegant and
wonderful to use for clients as well as coaches and trainers. There are many
different tools that say EI, but as a coach or trainer it is a good idea to
know what is being measured and how to make the transfer to learning. Some
EI assessments are trait-based, some are like psychological tests, most have
20 to 30 measures to deal with, which can create complexity and challenge.
Genos, the result of a six year university study, is a second generation
tool that embodies the core of all EI models and is competency based. Genos
measures 7 core emotional skills and allows direct and effective transfer to
learning. The core skills are easily mapped to any job competency model. As
a coach or trainer who wants to provide something relevant, easily
understood and simple to learn from, it's hard not to rave about this tool.
The distributor and training center in the US is EQ At Work
www.eqatwork.com. They offer free webinars that demonstrate the tool in
action.
I have used the Genos assessment and can respond if anyone has othr
questions.

I know there is an instrument that comes with Goleman's video on Emotional
Intelligence. CRM Learning is the distributor of the video. I can't
remember the name of it but I'm sure CRM has an online catalog.

not valuable in making such an assessment? This potential client wants to
identify an instrument for use with new hires or possibly as part of the
hiring process. She is responsible for overseeing all HR functions and
processes in a global organization that is growing and acquiring businesses
aggressively. She sees EI is a a set of important competencies to assess (I
agree with her) early the on-boarding process if not during the hiring
process. As Goleman et al noted in their book, Primal Leadership, EI
competency among leaders really helps organizations undergoing culture
change. The folks she will be hiring will be doing both--building global
businesses and leading culture change efforts.
