I have used Appreciative Interviews  as "ice breakers" and a way to have a new conversation and learn about a collegue in college classrooms and new employee orientation. Just frame the questions to bring out the energy that you would like to build from.  For sales, I would ask questions about that most satifying customer service warm feeling they ever got from providing that special service to a customer.  Also, ask them to tell about the best customer serice they ever received.
