Hi Jeff

One picture book I think is wonderfully appreciative, and which I use
extensively (with adults as well as with children!) is called "The Wrong
Stone" by Russell Deal.
It's published here in Australia by Innovative Resources. You can see
more about it here:
http://www.innovativeresources.org/display_details.aspx?productcode=6050

The story is a wonderful way to start the conversations about accepting
people who are different and appreciating the unuique contribution
everyone can make - as well as appreciating oneself!

St Luke's Innovative Resources also publishes stickers and a card set:

and "A Pocket of Stones" to accompany the book:

Three other beautifully appreciative picture books, with slightly
different focuses, are:

The Man Who Loved Boxes (by Stephen Michael King)
Sadly this is not available through Amazon and a quick search hasn't
produced a purchasing source on the web.
But I assume some other sources would have it - it was published in 1996.
There's an online review of it here -
http://www.aussiereviews.com/article1814.html

The Wonderful Life of a Fly Who Couldn't Fly (Bo Lozoff)
See more about it at Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/27zyn2

The Red Tree (by Shaun Tan)
More information on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/2gk474

I've no affiliation with any of the above, by the way! :-) They are
simply resources I've used and would recommend as great for children -
not only beautifully illustrated, but also affirming and very
appreciative! :-)

Hope this helps.

Warmly
Sue
