Don, thanks for your message. In the positive spirit of community and sharing, I offer another way of viewing the postings on Ubuntu.
I think it is a beautiful thing to find words, ideas, stories, parables, cultural beliefs, philosophical approaches, etc. from our own--or other cultures--that help to anchor one's own beliefs and meanings and root them in richer soil.
The meaning of Ubuntu, or any other thing, exists for us when we perceive and celebrate its relationship and significance, whether real or symbolic. That meaning, hopefully, is free from any "grabbing" (or 'attachment' in the Buddhist definition) and serves primarily as just one way of many to perceive this incredible world. It can help open us up to new ways of cherishing others, approaching our place and purpose, and serving our community. Whether or not the postings on Ubuntu are 'accurate' is also based on how we individually perceive the world. I cannot judge how others would interpret the meaning, I only know how I can make meaning from it in my own work and life. If other people perceive its significance as well, that is stellar.
AI is a search for the best in the relevant world around us. I would guess that all of us on this group interpret AI differently in our diverse worlds and do so according to our own desires, beliefs, intentions, goals, etc. We bring different meaning to it and take different meaning from it. What a great thing.
Peace and happy weekend,

Hi All,
The recent references to "Ubuntu" have caught my eye, partly because
someone
from South Africa once presented an association with Ubuntu that moved
me.
I am not sure (I don't know, I am just not sure) that all the
references to
Ubuntu have been accurate on this list. I am convinced that it is
indeed a
wonderful cultural aspect that we would be so much better if we had
Ubuntu
incorporated in our culture.
I personally am disturbed, though, if and when we grab onto something
like
this and interpret it according to our own desires and beliefs. I
think
some of this may be happening.
