Trish,

A good book to get is one by Cooperrider, Sorenson, Whitney, and Yaeger called
Appreciative Inquiry: Rethinking Human Organization Toward a Positive Theory of
Change. It's by Stipes Publishing. I picked it up a class Cooperrider did at
Benedictine University in the fall. You could also contact Case Western,
Weatherhead School of Management (don't have their number handy) and order a $15
book on AI: A Constructive Approach to Organization Development and Social
Change. This contains the contents of a workshop. OD Practitioner (1996???)
has an entire issue devoted to A.I. You could check out the ODNET website and
it has articles online.

Here are a couple of websites:

http://www.bus.sfu.ca/homes/gervase/5theories.html
http://www.trainingjournal.co.uk/tjsitefiles/articles/11991.htm
http://www.newfieldaus.com.au/articles/LanguageAndSuffering.htm (on language)

http://www.mellish.com.au/TrainingDevtCoursesAppInqWorkshops.htm

That should get you started. The internet stuff is free, so budget friendly - I
understand that need with two kids of my own. Have fun exploring!
