I'm a new member to this list (among a few I gather) and am responding to
the invitation from Jack Brittain - thanks Jack, nice to be invited - to
introduce myself, how I came to find Ai and this list and what are my
questions.
I suspect the source of new members was probably from the ODNet list as AI
was a thread in the past week and this list was posted as a place to get
information.
For me, it was an interesting thread about something that has been a part of
my OD process for many years and yet didn't have a label - that being, how
do we get people to do more of what they do well and focus on what works,
rather than what doesn't work.
My overriding question is the most fundamental: what is AI, why, how, what,
what if, when, where, etc does it work.  I don't expect nor need to have all
this answered in this forum or by return email, but rather I'm happy to sit
and just notice what I notice for now.
One specific question is this: how do I study this formally (or informally)
in my situation of 1. being in New Zealand, 2. without paying astronomically
for it (our exchange rate with the US is abysmal right now).  I'm expecting
my first child in December and could find some additional study useful soon.
And a comment: having received my first two digests I like what I read, the
way it is written and the no flame/spam policys.  It certainly feels like a
safe place to play!
