I developed a strategic planning approach based on AI that goes like this:
1. what are we doing right? List the things that are successful, alive, and useful in the organization. (Write them on 3 x 5 post it notes [PINS], plaster them across a big white board.
2. What are the dreams? Write them on PINS
3. Affinity group the PINS
4. Label the groups
5. Write the groups on a flip chart, in a circle. There will be 5 - 9 groups. Ask the group to decide what leads to what, or what is more of a priority than what.
6. You now have a prioritized list of themes.

Design some organizational interventions to address the top three.
Decide how to deliver the design.

There is more but that is the outline.
